Books and Book Contributions:
Mladen Jadrić has authored and co-authored several books, the latest one being Intimate Spaces: https://actar.com/product/intimate-spaces/: “Jadrić examines the evolving concept of family in contemporary society, emphasizing that it extends beyond traditional nuclear units to encompass broader communities such as neighborhoods, co-living arrangements, and working groups. These diverse forms of “family” have increasingly adopted the characteristics of closely-knit, mutually supportive social groups, providing solace and resilience during challenging times.”
At Home in Vienna (together with D. Alic, UNSW Sydney) is a comparative study on innovative housing projects in the last hundred years in Vienna, Austria, published by TU Academic Press (https://www.amazon.de/HOME-VIENNA-Schriftenreihe-Architektur-Raumplanung/dp/3854480288). This is a reference book both for design practitioners as well as for students and researchers in academia.
Jadrić also contributed to the book Vienna Model 2 with his essay Affordable Housing in Asia, published by Jovis, Berlin. https://www.jovis.de/en/books/details/product/the-vienna-model-2.html
The results of housing design research on “urban villages” and post-war housing settlements in Korea and China concentrates predominantly on high-density housing architecture, focusing on the restoration of community. Two of these projects were exhibited at the Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urban Planning in 2017 and 2019 (both projects together with Prof. Seung H-Sang from Seoul).
In the last 20 years Jadrić has been leading university cooperation with China’s leading universities: Tsinghua University in Beijing, Tongji University in Shanghai, South-East University in Nanjing, the University of Shenzhen, and the University of Hong Kong. The result of this cooperation is a framework of Joint Study Program, exchanges, guest lectures, congresses, and annual workshops organized jointly by TU Vienna, Faculty of Architecture and Planning, and the partner universities in China since 2002. Since 2010 cooperation and scientific exchange has been expanded by work on joint projects, scientific research as well as by a Double Degree Program between TU Vienna and Tongji University in Shanghai and South-East University, Nanjing. Some of these many projects, studies, and joint scientific and research were presented in three books: Urban Analects, Pedestrian and Transit Hybrid, and Rebirth of Urban Village.
