Project Description
The core idea of this design is based on two principles: a sensible coexistence with nature and an optimized relationship between work and living environments. Thirty-seven residential and work units are arranged in five clearings cut through the forest, oriented along a north-south axis toward the sea. The layout responds to the site’s varied topography through variations and a mix of four different base typologies. This allows each resident to maintain a variety of “visual connections” to both the sea and the surrounding forest. This pilot project on the theme of homework served as the basis for the development of the master plan for the Vuosaari area in Helsinki.
