After the successful exhibition at the Biennale of Seoul, the course „Landscripts of Vienna and Seoul“ was continued in the next winter semester. A new intensive study of the urban typology of housing, build on the obtained knowledge of the previous semester, with newly set criterias was made. Together with the Guest Professor Seung H-Sang (SDF) and Mladen Jadric (TU) the students work was exhibited in the
Donuimun Museum in Seoul.
Landscripts of Vienna and Seoul 2 presents designs for new neighbourhoods inside the Hope Village (Sanggye-Village) in Seoul. The program framework is based on a symbiosis of the two cities best experiences divided in 12 categories: Topographie, Pad, Road, Way of Living, Micro-Economy, Environment, Community, Design, Sustainability, Locality, Workability, Economic Efficiency;
This approach demonstrates that affordable housing is a basic requirement and an essencial ingredient of a just, inclusive and sustainable city of tomorrow. The project comprises strategic and rigorous design positions from a conceptual stage to a developed design proposal based on an in-depth understanding and appreciation of design principles with regard to the selected typology. The new neighbourhood demonstrates a deep respect for the local way of life including social, economic and environmental responsibility.
The high density-low rise neighbourhoods show different layers of buildings and related complex contexts of the contemporary urban conditions, which the City of Seoul could use as a pilot project for future housing models.
